LeeAnne Bergquist, Manager Commonly referred to on homebrew forums as "SWMBO", Scott's wife LeeAnne manages the day-to-day workings at The Brew Shop. She can mill your grains, answer BASIC questions, and ring you up at the register. Not a homebrewer herself, she has become interested in making meads and ciders.
The Brew Shop (Formally called The Brew Room)
Homebrewing supplies were added to The Natural Path in 2010 as a way to buy bulk grain and avoid driving over 60 miles for basic brewing supplies. However, it became apparent that there was an increasing need not only for ingredients, but for all the "shiny" innovations that are quickly becoming available for the hobby. As a result, The Brew Shop has become a one-stop shop for all things homebrewing. Expert help, free classes, BJCP study groups--just a few ways that The Brew Shop staff wants to help our growing homebrewing community!
Commercial Electrician by trade, Scott received his starter kit as a birthday present in 2008, and he's been brewing ever since.
It quickly became a family hobby when his father Rod and brother Brian also became hooked on brewing. Together they won a Bronze Medal in their first competition, the 2010 Dominion Cup. Since then, the Bergquist brewing team have won numerous awards, including Best of Show for the 2012 Dominion Cup and a Gold Medal in the 2013 Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing. While they've won medals in many other competitions, most recently they won Best of Show for their German Pilsner at the 2016 Virginia Beer Blitz and they have also earned the right to compete in the AHA's National Homebrew Competition for five consecutive years.
Scott, now a Certified BJCP judge, has shifted his focus to judging and helping others craft delicious beer!
